[BEDA] Day 9: Idol least likely to care about their own music

I was going to say Kwanghee/Krystal again, but I feel like that would be a cop-out since I already BEDA’ed them last week.  So I’m moving onto greener pastures and nominating Sohee of the Wonder Girls.  

Just look at that face.  

That is the face of an individual who just does not give a shit about music.  She has the absolute worst case of dead fish face I’ve seen in kpop, and by that I mean that her default expression is the finest iteration of the “what the fuck do I care” look that makes sentient life shrivel up and die.  Which is awesome - if used sparingly.  The unfortunate thing about Sohee is that this expression is her normal expression.  

God help her.

Here’s the thing - Sohee probably really doesn’t give a fuck.  But actually.  Hong Seung Sung (Cube CEO, former JYP exec) spilled the deets in his 2011 book, “There Will Be No Spotlight if You Stop Now”, 

“After Sohee starred in the movie ‘I Like It Hot’, she expressed that she wanted to focus on her acting career instead of her singing career.  Because of that, we had to persuade her to change her mind for two to three months.  Even if it wasn’t Sohee but another member, at the time, we had no choice but to help change her heart.”

He continued,“As opposed to worrying about one member leaving a five member group, I was worried that her decision wouldn’t be a safe one, especially since she’s been training for years specifically to become a singer.  Fortunately, Sohee agreed with the company on still trying new things as a singer and to spend more time thinking about it.”

In actuality, rumors of Sohee’s departure began circulating amongst fans after the movie hit theaters in 2008.  Although they were left as rumors then, the book confirms that they could’ve become true had it not been for the company persuading her.

Comment: TROLOLOLOL SAFE?  Sohee can’t keep a note in tune to save her life (though she’s been improving - the latest WG release is grudging proof of that) - staying as a singer was the unsafe decision for her to make…oh, the irony.

So there you have it folks - I’m not making this bullshit up this time.  Sohee really could give a third of a fuck about her music with the Wonder Girls and is probably at this very moment throttling JYP for wasting away her prime years in some apartment in NY.
